As humans, we are constantly plagued by both bacteria and viruses that make our bodies sick. We know that something is wrong and we do not feel well, but do we know what is actually going on inside of us?? Know the difference between bacteria and a virus, how they spread, and how to prevent them from making us sick.
5.1.2 Infectious Disease Agents
It is important to know how infectious diseases spread in order to best protect against them.

5.1.3 Isolating Bacteria
In this experiment, we took different samples of bacteria, isolated a colony, and observed for 48 hours.

From this experiment, we were able to get an idea of the bacteria plaguing Anna Garcia. My inference was S. Araucanian, as it has similar characteristics, such as size and margins.
5.1.4 Gram Staining
In this experiment, we did a Gram stain on the four bacteria samples, to test for positive or negative to the Gram stain. This test shows the structure of the cell wall. If the Gram stain is positive, the cell wall has 20x more peptidoglycan, a polymer that absorbs crystal violet dye.

5.1.5 Bacteria Identification
In this activity, we anaylzed the results from different bacterial test done on Anna. From these test and our findings, we were able to identify Anna's bacteria sample as Serratia Marcescens.
